The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) is a nonprofit advocacy organization established to defend and advance the constitutional right of parents to direct the education of their children and to protect family freedoms. The website is extremely comprehensive, covering the legal status of homeschooling in all 50 states and U.S. citizens abroad or in the military.
In addition to the legal portions of the website, and the members-only section, there is a full section, there is a full section especially for new homeschoolers. This section has an extensive bibliography, quick facts about homeschooling research, planning tools, organization tools, educational philosophies overviews, curriculum reviews, and a testing section. The testing tab is quite comprehensive and useful. The testing section contains information on standardized testing, portfolios, and evaluations and a full listing of test material sources.
The resources available on the website are free for anyone to use, however, there is also membership option that gives even more resources and benefits. The main purpose of HSLDA is legal defense of homeschooling. Members are provided free legal counsel and representation if they are ever challenged by state or school official, D.C.S., or other family members.

This is the official website for the Department of Education. It gives a complete overview of basic homschooling requirements, including forms for withdrawing a child from public school, registering a homeschool if the parent wishes, sports participation requirements, and surprisingly includes links for state homeschool support groups, curriculum, and a contact person at the D.O.E. This is very easy to use and has a homeschool friendly tone.
