Great Backyard Bird Count

Description:
It’s time for the Great Backyard Bird Count. Oh My Gosh, that means spring is almost here (yay!) and the birds are beginning their annual migrations. The scientists at Cornell Ornithology Lab need everyone’s help (all ages) to count birds and track the migration patterns. Plus, it’s actually fun and the birds are soooo pretty and interesting! Seriously! Here at the Libraries, we’ll have bird feeding stations set up to help attract the birds so you can observe them and count them. We’ll also have packets that you can take home to do some watching and counting at home if you prefer. We have books and websites and everything you need to identify the birds that you see. Come on out for the fun at any time on Friday and/or Saturday at both libraries.
I’m hoping to see some Indigo Buntings! Why do the boy birds get all the pretty colors?!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, there’s a photo contest too. Go on the website www.birdcount.org/gbbc and click on the links to see last year’s photos and get ideas for this year. You can get all the info to participate and and see how to submit reports and there are all kinds of great links so go check it out!

SAT Prep Class begins at Brookville Library on Monday, Jan. 28th at 6:30 pm. The class will run for 16 weeks and is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Cost is $13.50 for the book. Space is limited so please register early. You can register online or call the library at 647-4031.
