In 1995, a group of citizens from Laurel, Indiana requested to become a part of the library district. Doing so allowed them to pursue a block grant to build a library on the site of the old elementary school in Laurel. Through the grant and community donations and fundraising efforts, Laurel Public Library held its open house on April 26, 1998. This location offers a robust collection of children, teen, and adult reading materials, meeting rooms, and programming space, as well as a reading garden in the back of the building.
