Franklin County Public Library District

The Franklin County Public Library District consists of two branches in southeastern, Indiana: Brookville Public Library and Laurel Public Library. We are governed by a seven-member board appointed by county government officials.

The Brookville Library is located at 919 Main Street in Brookville, Indiana, and consists of an original Carnegie Library dedicated in 1912, and an annex building that was added in 2018. Laurel Library is located at 200 Clay Street in Laurel, Indiana, and was dedicated in 1998.

The Franklin County Public Library District includes residents of Blooming Grove, Brookville, Fairfield, Laurel, Metamora, and Posey Townships. These townships support the library district through their property taxes.

A non-resident library card can be purchased for $82. Any student attending a Franklin County Community School District school can obtain a student library card for free.

The Franklin County Public Library District is part of the Evergreen Indiana Consortium, so patrons have expanded access to materials in libraries across the state of Indiana.
